The Government-University-Industry Research Roundtable will convene a webinar to discuss a recent consensus study from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, on Improving Representation in Clinical Trials and Research: Building Research Equity for Women and Underrepresented Groups. The report details the costs and consequences of failing to address the lack of representation in clinical trials; barriers to addressing underrepresentation; and examples of successful efforts to improve inclusion across diverse populations in clinical trials for diseases associated with high mortality rates in the United States.
The chair of the study, Kirsten Bibbins-Domingo, Editor in Chief of JAMA and the JAMA Network; and study committee member Edith Perez, Chief Medical Officer of Bolt Therapeutics, Inc., will present the report’s conclusions and recommendations for improving representation in clinical trials and clinical research across the ecosystem of stakeholders and will discuss partnerships and cross-sector collaborations critical for driving change on this issue.
