Driving Study Implementation

The Clinical Trials Research Portfolio Managers oversee study startup through activation providing strategic oversight in alignment with the UW Clinical Trials Institute’s (CTI) mission to Move Medicine Forward and bring new treatments to patients sooner.

Our overall aim is to drive study implementation by:

Providing administrative, fiscal, regulatory, and operational support to expedite the timeline of study startup
Conducting feasibility assessments using standardized intake methods and completing internal committee submissions with high efficiency
Collaborating with internal teams to ensure the timely completion of key clinical trial milestones
Building strong relationships with clinical teams, identifying resources, and working with ancillary staff to optimize workflows and reduce burden on research participants
Expanding research to ambulatory spaces to integrate studies of new therapies and treatments directly into patient care

Regulatory Support

Consultation on all types of IRB submissions
Regulatory submission to the IRB of record and required ancillary committees
Comprehensive maintenance of sponsor and regulatory documentation
Assistance with FDA submissions for single patient-INDs/compassionate use

Fiscal Support

Facilitate budget development and contract negotiations in startup
Financial oversight of clinical research accounts through sponsor invoicing, collection, and fiscal reconciliation ending with study closure

Inpatient and outpatient coordination of research studies
Recruitment and consent of eligible subjects
