16 Jul UW Health expanding hospitals, clinics to meet growing demand

UW Health, which plans to open a large clinic on Madison’s East Side this fall, is preparing to crank up more construction cranes for other projects, including additions to UW Hospital and its East Madison Hospital.
The hospital expansions, along with the Eastpark Medical Center opening in October, a new clinic coming on the West Side and a planned rehabilitation hospital in Fitchburg, represent an investment of more than $900 million and an expansion of UW Health’s facility footprint by nearly 1 million square feet.
“We’re just trying to keep up … with the demand for health care, really, across the board,” said Dr. Peter Newcomer, UW Health’s chief operating officer. “We’re seeing more and more patients come to the Madison area for their health care.” Read more…
